2017 High Ground: Leadership in Transitioning Times

Columbia Institute's Centre for Civic Governance organizes an annual forum for elected officials and civil society leaders every spring. This forum features a series of keynotes, presentations, panels and workshops dealing with the issues and challenges facing our communities, both locally and nationally. Our 2017 event - High Ground: Leadership in Transitioning Times - was held from March 31 to April 1 in Vancouver, BC.

Many B.C. and Canadian communities are experiencing a worsening, wickedly complex housing crisis that has been decades in the making. Shelter insecurity has seeped into the middle and even upper-middle class, and across all age and cultural demographics.

2017 Columbia Institute and Tyee Gala: Stories to be heard, not yet told

Columbia Institute partnered with The Tyee to organize a gala celebration dedicated to hearing stories from BC's leading reporters and story tellers on what's shaping our lives. Held on March 6, 2017, at the Creekside Community Centre, the evening event included an Ethiopian buffet dinner, a silent auction, and mingling with friends, who care about the communities we live in.
