The Columbia Institute is committed to lifelong learning that benefits all segments of society. At Columbia, we recognize that the skyrocketing cost of education makes it difficult for working people and mature students to return to the classroom for retraining and skills upgrading. We are able to do this through the following scholarship opportunities:
Lifelong Learning Scholarships – One of the few scholarship programs designed to support the financial needs of adult learners interested in re-training and skills development. The Columbia Institute annually offers 14 scholarships valued at $1000 each, renewable for up to 4 years.
McGann Bursary – This exciting new bursary, worth up to $1,000 is designed for those studying or planning to study Communications who demonstrate a commitment to the issues and actions affecting working people.
Telecommunications Workers’ Union Scholarship – The TWU offers four scholarships valued at $1000 each and three scholarships valued at $750 each to children of TWU members graduating from high school.
United Steelworkers’ Union Scholarship – The United Steelworkers offers 12 scholarships valued at $1000 to members of USW in good standing for two years or more.
Allan Thomas Fellowship – The Carold Institute offers this fellowship, valued at up to $60,000, and awarded each year to a leader in the NGO/non-profit sector who would not normally have access to a sabbatical leave.
