Scholarships

The Columbia Institute is committed to lifelong learning that benefits all segments of society. At Columbia, we recognize that the skyrocketing cost of education makes it difficult to return to the classroom for retraining and skills upgrading. That's why we've posted the following scholarship opportunities: 

  • David Podworny Memorial Scholarship -Valued at $1,000 per year, this bursary is intended for those studying or planning to study Telecommunications Trades & Labour Studies at accredited public institutions in BC (Canada) or Washington State (USA). Learn more
     
  • Dennis McGann Bursary – This one-time bursary, worth up to $1,000 is designed for those studying or planning to study Communications who demonstrate a commitment to the issues and actions affecting working people. Learn more
     
  • TWU, USW Local 1944 Scholarship – The TWU, USW Local 1944 offers one-time educational grant consisting of four scholarships valued at $1000 each and three scholarships valued at $750 each to children of active union members graduating from high school. Learn more
     
  • United Steelworkers’ Union (USW) Lifelong Learning Scholarship – The United Steelworkers offers 12 scholarships valued at $1000 to members of USW in good standing for two years or more. This scholarship is not renewable. Learn more
